The election today will be dramatic I am sure. No matter who wins many will be upset. The interesting thing about this fact is that regardless who wins in 4 years a 50 % approval rating is considered a “success.” Seems like we are putting quite a bit of stock in politics for only 50% to be considered a “good job.” No matter, this election is still one of the most important of our time. So after you vote today I wanted to give you three promises that shall comfort you during the turmoil ahead.
1.) God loves you. Wow, what a simple truth. God loves you. I say this phrase all the time, but sometimes it feels distant and unreal. That is normal. But remember, today’s election does not change God’s love for you. If anything, the election should show you how much you need God’s love.
2.) Different year, same story: God’s people have been under bad leadership a billion times before and if we are again . . . so what!!!!??? The results today does not change God’s history of faithfulness. When the Israelites rebelled, God did not destroy them. He promised to never do that again after the flood. Trust in God’s wisdom. Perhaps there is a reason for the coming storm? I am unsure, but I am sure that God will see us through. He has rescued us from sin. Surely, he will rescue us from any outcome in this election.
3.) Christ is coming! Christ is coming back to return us to Him whether the next four years is with Trump or Biden. We had to cancel a couple vacations in my life and that feeling just stinks. This summer I was supposed to go to Scotland. To make it better, Elizabeth’s parents were going to fit the bill! Covid ended that dream. Maybe some day. No disease or election will change the truth that Christ is going to come back. Those plans can never be cancelled. We may not know the time, but we know the promise. I pray that is enough for you today.
2020 has been a long year. Stay strong. The season shall change soon enough. For now, lean into God’s promises. He will always love you, always protect you, and is 100% coming back for you.
AMEN!
